A registered dietitian for Toronto, wherever you are in it

Toronto holds nearly every specialized eating disorder service in the province and still leaves people waiting. I work with clients right across the city online, so the care you can actually reach is not decided by which subway line you happen to live near.

Lauren is based in Guelph and Toronto and works virtually across Ontario. That means people in Toronto can access specialized nutrition counselling without travelling to a clinic, while still working with someone registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.

If you searched for a dietitian in Toronto

You may be looking for general nutrition advice, but many people land here because food has become louder than they want it to be. You might be dealing with restriction, binge eating, guilt after eating, fear foods, body checking, or feeling unsure whether your eating is serious enough to deserve support. It is enough to start a conversation.

What I help with

Every person who reaches out is met where they are. These are the main reasons people in Toronto and across Ontario look for this kind of care:

Serving Toronto and the surrounding area

Because care is virtual, I work with clients in Toronto and nearby communities including North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and the wider GTA, as well as people right across Ontario. You do not need to live near a clinic to get thoughtful, registered dietitian support. You can also browse every Ontario city served.

What is actually available in Toronto, and where it stops

Toronto has more specialized eating disorder services than anywhere else in Ontario, which turns out to be a complicated kind of luck. Sheena's Place runs professionally facilitated group support in the city for people aged seventeen and older, and states on its own site that no diagnosis and no referral are required to register. The Eating Disorder Program at Toronto General Hospital describes intensive treatment for people seventeen and older, either as an inpatient stay or as a twelve week virtual intensive outpatient program, with a doctor or nurse practitioner submitting the referral. SickKids treats children and adolescents from eight to eighteen, also by referral. NEDIC, the national helpline, answers from Toronto at 1-866-633-4220.

So the map is full, and people still get stuck on it. Most of the hospital programs are gated behind a referral, which is difficult if you do not have a family doctor. The published criteria are real, which means a person can be genuinely unwell and still be told a particular program is not the right fit for them. And group support, which is often very good, is a different thing from sitting down with one person and working out what you are going to eat this week.

Private practice tends to sit in that gap. Nutrition counselling by video is individual, scheduled, and does not wait on a referral. If you are already on a hospital waitlist, starting here does not take you off it, and it is reasonable to do both.

The other thing this city does is eat your time. An appointment across town can cost two hours around a fifty minute session. Meeting online removes that. You can take a session from your desk between meetings, from a parked car, or from your own apartment with the door shut. When an eating disorder is tangled up with control over your calendar, not surrendering half a day matters more than it sounds like it should.

If you already have a therapist or a physician in the city, the nutrition piece is designed to sit alongside them rather than replace them. With your consent, that kind of coordination is ordinary, and it usually makes everyone's work easier. There is a plain list of what exists across Ontario if you want to see the whole picture first.
