Non-diet virtual dietitian care for Midland and Simcoe County, with Lauren Hofstee, RD. Eating disorder recovery, disordered eating, body image, binge eating, and food anxiety support, all online.
Book a free intro callMidland sits on Georgian Bay at the top of Simcoe County, the largest town in the North Simcoe cluster that runs out through Tiny, Tay, and Penetanguishene. The nearest specialized eating disorder support usually means a drive south to Barrie or Orillia, which is a lot to ask when food already feels heavy. I work with people right across the Southern Georgian Bay area by secure video, so you can get thoughtful, non-diet care from your own home.
Lauren is based in Guelph and Toronto and works virtually across Ontario. That means people in Midland can access specialized nutrition counselling without travelling to a clinic, while still working with someone registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
You may be looking for general nutrition advice, but many people land here because food has become louder than they want it to be. You might be dealing with restriction, binge eating, guilt after eating, fear foods, body checking, or feeling unsure whether your eating is serious enough to deserve support. It is enough to start a conversation.

We work at your pace toward a calmer, steadier relationship with food and your body.
Every person who reaches out is met where they are. These are the main reasons people in Midland and across Ontario look for this kind of care:
Nutrition support for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID, orthorexia, and eating that feels frightening or out of control.
Compassionate, weight-inclusive care when food, exercise, rules, guilt, or body image have started to take over.
A non-diet approach to binge eating, emotional eating, and the restrict-binge cycle, without shame or more rules.
Gentle support for food anxiety, fear foods, avoidance, and the slow work of feeling safer around eating.
Help for chronic dieting, body checking, food guilt, and rebuilding trust with your body at a steadier pace.
Work with a Registered Dietitian online from anywhere in Ontario, with receipts for extended health reimbursement.
Because care is virtual, I work with clients in Midland and nearby communities including Penetanguishene, Tiny, Tay, Port McNicoll, and Victoria Harbour on southern Georgian Bay, as well as people right across Ontario. You do not need to live near a clinic to get thoughtful, registered dietitian support. You can also browse every Ontario city served.
Simcoe County is served by the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Eating Disorder Program, run by Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie together with Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. It is a genuine, evidence-based service, and for the people it is designed for it can be very good.
The catch is who it is designed for. The program offers outpatient Family-Based Therapy and Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults under the age of twenty-five, for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other specified feeding or eating disorders. Access is through your family physician or nurse practitioner, who completes a physical assessment and the referral.
For a lot of adults in Midland, that age line is the problem. Someone over twenty-five who is struggling can live an hour from the nearest program site and still not qualify. Presentations that do not fit the anorexia, bulimia, or OSFED criteria, like binge eating, chronic dieting, or food anxiety, can also fall outside what the program treats.
A dietitian sits outside all of that. There is no age cap and no referral needed, sessions happen by secure video from home, and the approach is non-diet and weight-inclusive across the whole range of eating concerns. If a younger family member does qualify for the regional program, working with a dietitian alongside it is straightforward.
None of it comes with judgment, and the intro call is free, so there is no wait just to be told whether you are eligible.
